Now the story is that Mira Nair will get cracking on another movie soon after the Academy Awards are over in March next year.

According to a source, "Mira's planning a medium-budget movie like Monsoon Wedding."

Meanwhile, the screen adaptation of Gregory Roberts' autobiographical work is in a limbo following Johnny Depp's reported second thoughts to play the protagonist.

"Johnny Depp found certain similarilaities between Shantaram and Captain Jack Sparrow, his character in The Pirates of the Caribbean series. He pointed this out to Mira and suggested she revert to him after reworking the script," the source adds.

What next?
She did make certain changes but Depp wasn't convinced. Since casting takes a while in Hollywood, it will be many months before Nair finalises another actor.

It remains to be seen which actors will feature in her next project. Amitabh Bachchan had already committed dates for Shantaram. Will these dates now be transferred to the another Mira Nair movie?
