Following the alleged abduction, gang rape and religious conversion of a 20-year-old teacher from western UP, her family members on Wednesday got the victim admitted to a private hospital. She was said to be in critical medical condition which was aggravated due to infections contracted from a previous operation.

“Her family members got her admitted to the hospital and did not arrive with her previous medical reports. We got her admitted and her condition is critical. She told us that she was operated upon for an ectopic pregnancy and her health condition deteriorated following the surgery,” Dr Sangeeta Garg, medical superintendent at the Ghaziabad hospital said.

The doctors said that the victim bore around three to five inches incision marks over her lower abdominal area and further medical tests were immediately ordered when she arrived at the Ghaziabad hospital with a Meerut police team.

Based on the victim’s statement, doctors suspect that she was either operated by some quack or at an unhygienic location that led to the infection.

Meanwhile, the victim’s father raised the issue of heavy medical treatment costs that he would have to pay for his daughter’s treatment. Later, film actor Nagma – who contested recent general elections from Meerut on a Congress ticket – arrived at the hospital to enquire about the victim’s health.

“The hospital authorities have assured us that they will bear the cost of her treatment. We have already demanded a CBI probe into the matter of alleged religious conversion as revealed by the victim,” said Nagma.

Ghaziabad MP VK Singh and UP state women’s commission chairperson Zarina Usmani also visited the victim.
