The Meerut gang rape victim was discharged from a private hospital in Ghaziabad on Saturday.
Suffering from acute pelvic inflammation following an ectopic surgery, the woman was discharged on Saturday afternoon as requested by the family, hospital authorities said. A PRO of the hospital said that the woman’s condition had improved.
On Friday, UP police claimed that a local from a neighbouring village had taken her to Meerut medical college on July 23 to treat complications arising out of an ectopic pregnancy. “Once I see the building, I will be able to tell whether it was the same hospital. He was known to me and went with me as I was under pressure from the accused to get the surgery done,” the victim told HT.
The woman confirmed an alleged June 29 gang-rape incident which she also narrated to doctors during her medical examination on August 3.
“I narrated my ordeal only to my friend. I did not tell my family about the incident and relied on her…all this led to the sequence of events that I went through,” she said. The woman denied any knowledge of the communal tension that prevailed in the state following her case and added that she would consider a CBI inquiry.
The woman’s father said that they had requested she be discharged in view of Sunday’s festival (Raksha Bandhan). He added that his daughter was still fearful about the incident. “In the hospital she used to wake up suddenly and start crying inconsolably,” he said.
