The BJP’s campaign, being led by Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan himself has met with fierce opposition from the Congress.
However, after a 10-year term, the BJP leadership, which is facing anti-incumbency aggravated by resentment against many ruling party MLAs, feels Chouhan is still a good bet.
The Congress campaign, on the other hand, is headed by Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.
Aiming to expose the “misrule” of the BJP government in 10 years (2003-2013) and massive corruption in the government machinery, the Congress under Scindia looks united now.
In fact, some would argue it seems capable of posing an effective challenge to the BJP.
