Meiyappan refuses to co-operate during interrogation

Gurunath Meiyappan, the team principal of two-time T20 league winners Chennai Super Kings (CSK), continued to be questioned at 11 pm on Friday night.
But Meiyappan was putting a tough resistance and was refusing to answer the questions put across to him, said crime branch sources.
This could also see crime branch move to arrest him, produce him before a court and seek for his custodial interrogation, said police sources.
The crime branch would also confront Meiyapppan with Virendra Randhawa alias Vindoo Dara Singh during the course of investigation which could stretch through the night, added police sources.
Meiyappan had reached Mumbai Commissioner office compound at 8.55 pm in a white Honda Accord wearing black T-shirt on Friday. He was escorted into the Unit-1 of the Crime branch by a posse of policemen.
Police sources said, a team of police officers from Unit - 1 and Unit -2 of the crime branch was questioning him, on a pre-decided line of investigation.
Himanshu Roy, joint commissioner of police (crime) said, “We summoned Meiyappan based on the information that we gathered during Vindoo’s interrogation.”
The crime branch will now question on whether Meiyappan has been passing on information of team strategies. “We have decided on a line of questioning. Based on the answer he would give, we would decided whether to arrest him or not,” said Roy
Earlier in the day, Gurunath had called crime branch officials and informed his intend to come to the crime branch, and had said that he would not be able to meet the 5 pm deadline.
Rumours were also abuzz of Meiyappan being arrested later in the night, after crime branch sources said that Vindoo had made serious allegations against the CSK team principal.
Meiyappan used to place bets through the book ‘Jack’ that Virendra Dara Singh Randhawa alias Vindoo operated, said crime branch sources.
Also, a model who is being questioned has claimed that Meiyappan had told her during a phone conversation about how 'tense he was after losing Rs 10 lakh that he had lost after placing a bet on CSK.
A senior crime branch officer requesting anonymity said, “The two models have claimed to have exchanged calls and SMS's with Meiyappan, after Vindoo introduced them to him. ''
The Mumbai crime branch investigating the money trail behind the cricket betting syndicate has also found that Virendra Dara Singh Randhawa alias Vindoo of the 250 calls which were scrutinized most of the calls were made toGurunath Meiyappan – the team principal of Chennai Super Kings.
