Mentally challenged girl raped by teachers in Haryana; one held

A mentally challenged student of Class 9 was allegedly raped by two of her teachers at Dudwa village near Dadri of Bhiwani district.

The victim, 14, who hails from dalit community was being allegedly raped for last six months by her physical training instructor and a junior basic training teacher.

According to complaint, the victim was mentally challenged girl and got pregnant after being sexually exploited by duo, who have been identified as Rafiq (JBT teacher) (48) from Lohar community and Vinod Kumar (PTI) (in mid tweenties) of Chiri village of Bhiwani district.

As per details of complaint, the accused used to threaten her of striking off her name from school, if she did not give in to their undue favour. When victim got pregnant, they got the pregnancy terminated with the help of same village ANM and ASHA worker. Sources said that the accused teachers did not show the attendance of victim after 28th March, the day, they got to know about her pregnancy to evade police action.

The matter came to light, after the termination of pregnancy and residents of Dudwa village got wind of the matter, who reached school and locked it demanding action against the accused teachers. After a protest of three hours, Dadri deputy superintendent of police Vijender Singh and district education officer, Nirmla Sheoran reached the spot and assured the protesters of arresting the perpetrators with immediate effect. Alleging the nexus of all teachers of school, the protesters demanded transfer of all staff members.

Talking to Hindustan Times, Bhiwani SP, Mitesh Jain said,"The accused were booked under 376(rape), SC/ST Act and Prevention of Children From Sexual Offences Act". On the arrest, he said: "We are investigating the matter". But sources added that one of the accused Rafiq has been arrested by police.

On the action taken against accused teacher, Bhiwani district education officer, Nirmal Sheoran said, "According to norms, the arrested teachers are suspended within 24 hours of registeration of FIR". She said: "In my opinion, we should not directly jump on the conclusion and brand them as criminals and let police investigate the reality behind the incident".
