If you plan to revamp your home interiors without cumbersome furniture, then think wrought iron. Sleek and straight-line wrought iron furniture is here to stay, as it allows you to style your home at a low cost. Bhawna Gupta of Vinayak Homes says, “Wrought iron furniture is not bulky, not expensive, easy to maintain and durable as well. Its dark tones go well with the preferred traditional look in Indian homes. Any colour and print in upholstery go well with wrought iron furniture.”

Wrought iron is mostly considered to be more suitable for outdoor patio furniture, but it is equally befitting for indoor — you can recreate French provincial to country décor styles.

Set in harmony
You can either have only wrought iron furniture or balance the look with a few pieces of wrought iron objects, teamed with wooden furniture. “Wrought iron looks classy when coupled with other materials, such as marble, glass and wood etc, in trendy designs for indoor furniture. It’s best to add only a few pieces of wrought iron furniture and accessories with the rest of the décor,” says Dimple Kohli of Qboid Design House.

Besides, the regular furniture such as beds, chairs, sofas, the markets are flooded with options. You can stock up your abode with wrought iron objects such as coat stands, wall hangings, wall art, tea-light holders, side tables, book racks, hanging and table lamps, candle-stands etc. You can also bring this element into your kitchen by adding interesting stands used to stock vegetables, and crockery. Wrought iron combined with colourful glass and wood makes for stylish furniture and accessories that blend in any interior décor. Wrought iron frames for your wall-mounted mirrors, vanities and paintings add style to bland walls. Moreover, wrought iron needs minimum care and maintenance.

Wrought Iron maintenance guide

Wrought Iron will retain its beauty and charm, if given proper care.
1. Wash the wrought iron piece once a month to remove any dirt and grime. After washing, drying it well with a dry cloth to prevent any rusting.
2. Make sure that any scratching and chipping of the paint is immediately tended to. Wash the chipped area with soap and warm water and touch up with a rust-resistant exterior metal paint.
3. If you discover rusting, scrub it off with the finest grade steel wool scouring pad.
4. Spraying your wrought iron item with an automotive spray wax twice a year will help prevent rusting.
