You can now carry a handcrafted model of your favourite Metro train home. This week, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) launched the first handcrafted model of the Metro train on the occasion of the first anniversary of the Delhi Metro Museum at the Patel Chowk station.
The 360-millimetre-long train model will be available for sale at a cost of Rs 10,000. Visitors can get the model from the souvenir shop. “It is made of high quality plastic and is covered by transparent acrylic plastic sheets,,” said DMRC spokesman Anuj Dayal.
Currently, toy Metro trains are available at the souvenir shop at the Museum at a cost of Rs 100 and Rs 200. Mahinderjeet Singh of Jeet Modeller, which designed the handcrafted train model, said it took several days to create the first model.
The same day also saw the inauguration of Metro through the Lens, a 10-day photo exhibition on the Delhi Metro. About 70 photographs published in leading newspapers of the Capital have been put on display.
The photographs highlight the decade-long journey of the Delhi Metro. Some photographs from the Metro library have also been put on display. The exhibition would be open to the public till January 9, Dayal said.
