Highlight Story

A COACH of Indore-Mhow shuttle today derailed immediately after the train left city station for Mhow. No one was injured in the incident, which occurred at 11:30 am.

Railway PRO Nitin David told Hindustan Times that initial reports suggest that a parcel being unloaded from a handcart parked near the railway tracks fell and bounced on the tracks resulting in the mishap. Only two wheels of the coach, which was fifth from the last, were derailed, he said.

Station manager and other officials rushed to the spot immediately after the incident. The coach was detached and the truncated train with seven coaches left for Mhow at 12.50 pm after the passengers from the remaining coaches were shifted.

Meanwhile, a crane was called in to remove the derailed coach. The route was finally cleared at 2.55 pm and as a result 9658 Mhow-Chittorgarh Express was delayed by three hours. The 469 Mhow Indore shuttle was stopped at Rajendra Nagar station and returned to Mhow as 470 Indore Mhow shuttle.
