MiC nod to Rs 50 crore works under JNNURM

THE MAYOR-IN-COUNCIL on Wednesday approved several proposals related to developmental works worth Rs 50 crore under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM). The proposals were forwarded for the approval of the Bhopal Municipal Corporation council.

THE MAYOR-IN-COUNCIL on Wednesday approved several proposals related to developmental works worth Rs 50 crore under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM). The proposals were forwarded for the approval of the Bhopal Municipal Corporation council.

The MiC chaired by Mayor Sunil Sood today approved proposals of slum rehabilitation. Besides, a proposal of nullah channelisation was also approved. 

According to information, 5,764 shanties from the slums are to be rehabilitated under the JNNURM. The MiC today approved two separate proposals for slum rehabilitation of Shyam Nagar, where 1,440 shanties dwellers would get new houses. An amount of Rs 14 crore is to be spent on the construction of houses and infrastructure development in Shyam Nagar.

In Kalpana Nagar slums, 212 shanty dwellers will get new houses under the JNNURM. An amount of Rs 1.94 crore will be spent on the work. The proposal regarding the rehabilitation of slums from Roshanpura and Banganga was also approved today. However, only a part of the project worth Rs 10.50 crore was approved today.

Besides, the proposal regarding the channelisation of the nullah was also approved. Five nullahs, including nullah from South TT Nagar to Kolar Road, Sanjay Nagar to Patra Nullah, Slaughter House to Patra Nullah, Lower Lake to Bhanpura and Shahpura Nullah would be channelised at an estimated cost of Rs 21.39 crore.

The MiC also approved the proposal of providing Rs 15 lakh to form a new company to run a modern city bus service on the lines of Indore. The remaining amount will be provided by the Bhopal Development Authority (BDA).
