Pop singer Mika Singh, who was held on charges of molesting Rakhi Sawant, was granted bail by a sessions court on Saturday.

Mika, who is charged with molestation, assault and criminal intimidation (of witnesses), had moved the sessions court seeking anticipatory bail as he feared arrest in the case.

While molestation and assault are bailable offences, criminal intimidation is non-bailable.

The sessions court, after accepting his anticipatory bail plea last week, had put the matter for hearing for Saturday, asking Mika to remain present in the court.

Sawant had lodged a complaint against Mika on June 11 alleging that he forcibly kissed her at a late night birthday party hosted by him at a suburban restaurant on June 10.

She also charged Mika's bodyguard with assaulting one of her friends who had intervened.

Prosecutor Ashok Deshmukh had opposed his anticipatory bail plea saying that police wanted to check the antecedents of Mika and co-accused Tiger (Mika's bodyguard) and Micky Sardar (Mika's friend).

When the court inquired why there was a delay of two hours in filing FIR on the day of the incident, the prosecutor said that Sawant was taken to Cooper Hospital for injury treatments.

Mika's lawyer said that the accused had left for Delhi and other places on June 12 to perform at shows and denied that he was absconding.
