Mild tremors were reported from different places in central Kerala on Friday, a senior scientist with the Centre for Earth Science Studies said.
The tremors,with an intensity of 2.3 and 1.5 on the Richter scale,occurred at 8.30 am and 1.30 pm at Thalassery, Thichoor and Desamangalam areas of Thalapilly taluk with the epicentre at Desamangalam,CP Rajendran said in Thrissur.
However, he said, there was no possibility for a major earthquake in central Kerala.
No one was injured and no damage to property was reported, Rajendran said.
Mild tremors were felt in different areas of the Thalapilly taluk and Malappuram and Palakkad district on December 20 with Desamangalam as epicentre, official sources said.Another mild tremor occurred this morning at Pattambi.
Since 1994, mild tremors had been occurring in the areas, he said. Rajendran and other officials visited the areas of the district where tremors were felt since Dec 20.
