Militants explode bomb at official's house

Unidentified militants exploded a bomb at the private house of a Manipur government official but no casualty was reported, police sources said.

Unidentified militants exploded a bomb at the private house of a Manipur government official but no casualty was reported, police sources said on Wednesday.

The militants set off the bomb at the house of Chief Manager of Hydro Electric Project Ibopishak Singh at Langol area in Imphal West district at around 9 pm last night, sources said.

No one was injured in the explosion but some household materials were partly damaged, they said.

The motive behind the crime was not known, sources said adding that monetary demand could have been the cause.

In another incident, unidentified militants also exploded a grenade at the house of a retired assistant engineer of public works department W Mandal at Chingmeirong area in Imphal west district on Tuesday, sources said adding that no one was injured.

They said this incident too could have been connected with monetary demand by unidentified militants.
