Minister asks AAC to improve services at Jammu Airport

Directing to come out with a comprehensive estimate to develop Jammu airport into an international one, minister for revenue, relief and rehabilitation Raman Bhalla has asked the Airport Advisory Committee (AAC) to prepare a proposal for the same.

The AAC have to prepare a proposal for expansion of Jammu Airport and develop it on modern lines, Bhalla said while chairing the meeting of AAC in Jammu Friday evening.

During the meeting, AAC apprised the minister about the expansion and modification of existing terminal building to handle 720 passengers at a time from present capacity of 360 passengers.

To deal with the heavy rush of RS Pura Road, AAC informed that a new entry gate would be constructed at terminal building.

For development of new terminal building on Tawi river side with extension of runway from 6,700 to 9,000 metres, the committee has submitted a proposal to Centre.

Addressing the officers, the minister said that Centre and state are making efforts to develop Jammu airport on modern lines by providing facilities including ATMs, prepaid taxi, car rental, tourist information, restaurants, LCD for flight information, internet, hotel reservation, handicrafts and readymade garment shop.
