Sacked Uttarakhand minorities panel chief SS Namdhari and 21 others on Saturday claimed before a court in New Delhi that liquor baron Ponty Chadha’s younger brother Hardeep conspired with a senior Delhi police officer and a Congress MLA to take possession of the farmhouse where the two brothers were killed.
Namdhari and others, who have been arrested for killing Ponty and his brother in a shootout last year, told Additional Sessions Judge Vimal Kumar Yadav that Hardeep wanted to kill Ponty and take over his farmhouse.
Advocate KK Manan, counsel for some of the accused said: “Prior to the incident, a meeting had been called by Hardeep on November 16, 2012, which was attended by a senior officer of Delhi police and a senior Delhi minister.”
The counsel further said the conspiracy was hatched on that night.
He also said the call details of Hardeep showed that he was in regular touch with that minister.
The Delhi police officer too was aware of Hardeep’s moves.
The counsel, however, did not name the officer and the minister, saying that their names would be disclosed during the trial.
