The police have arrested two persons, including a minor boy, for allegedly murdering a 19-year-old youth. The duo - identified as Rahul Kumar and a 16-year-old boy - was arrested in Loni. The third accused - Bhola Bidhudi, 18 - is the elder brother of the minor boy. He is still at large.
The two have been arrested under sections of abduction, murder, destruction of evidence and other sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
According to the police, the accused have confessed their involvement in the murder of Rahul Kasana, who was killed in the Siroli area of Loni on Wednesday.
Past enmity is being cited as the reason behind the crime. The police said the accused duo's two sisters had eloped with the victim and his brother on two instances. One incident took place some six years ago, while the other four years ago.
"However, both the girls returned after a couple of months. A panchayat was called and the community members disposed off the matter. The victim belonged to an influential family and the girls' kin never lodged a police complaint," said Rajesh Dwivedi, SHO, Loni.
The incidents brought humiliation to the girls' family. "Besides, the victim often teased the girls' brothers in public. This infuriated them," Dwivedi added.
They wanted to avenge the treatment meted out to their sisters and family.
On Wednesday, Rahul Kumar, a friend of the girls' brothers, lured the deceased to a nearby field where they consumed alcohol. "When the victim fell unconscious, Kumar called up the girls' brothers, who strangled Kasana with a rope and chopped off his head. Later, the three disposed off his body in the Hindon river area," Dwivedi said.
The victim's family members informed the police when he did not return home. They said he was last seen with Kumar, after which Kumar and the minor boy were arrested.
They led the police to the scene of crime. The rope used in the murder has been recovered.
