A man was booked on Saturday for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl for many days on the pretext of marrying her. The victim, a resident of Ghaziabad, met accused Tariq Sarkar (21), at Colombia Hospital on July 22 where her aunt was admitted.

Sarkar hails from Bihar and was residing at his relative’s house in Gurgaon. The accused allegedly took the girl to his native place in Bihar and raped her for 12 days.

Police officials said the victim along with her mother had come to meet her aunt at the hospital. Accused Sarkar was known to the victim and her family. He somehow managed to entice the girl and allegedly took her to his native place in Katihar, Bihar, where he exploited her.

Earlier, the girl’s family had assumed that she was at her aunt’s house. However, she was traced to Sarkar’s house in Bihar and brought back to Ghaziabad on August 5.

“The victim disclosed the truth to her mother on Friday who then filed a complaint at the Palam Vihar Police station,” said a police official. “We have filed a rape case. He is on the run and will be nabbed soon,” he added.
