Mirwaiz gets invitation from Islamic leaders
Moderate separatist leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has been invited by Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to attend the fourth summit of Islamic leaders to be held in Egypt on February 6, a spokesman of Hurriyat claimed on Thursday.
Moderate separatist leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has been invited by Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to attend the fourth summit of Islamic leaders to be held in Egypt on February 6, a spokesman of Hurriyat claimed on Thursday.
The OIC Islamic leader's summit, which is held after a gap of every four years, would discuss the political and regional challenges faced by the Muslims, the spokesman said in a statement.
"It would also discuss the means and ways to address those issues in an effective manner," the statement sated.
The spokesman further said that apart from discussing the "burning issues of Syria and Afghanistan, the issue of Jammu and Kashmir" would also be debated and discussed.
Since the APHC has an observer's status in OIC, Mirwaiz who is conference chairman, has taken up the Kashmir issue in OIC summits many times.
