'Miss Kerala' event to roll over to other parts of country

This year's 'Miss Kerala 2009' event will roll over to other parts of the country to select a beauty of Keralite origin, Paegent director Ram Menon said in Kochi on Monday.

Regional auditions will be at Kozhikode,Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi, entries for which would be open till July 17 from Monday, while the grand finale would be held in Kochi on July 31.

With the success of the previous year's contest, ITC owned brand Vivel have agreed to be the title sponsors of the event for the second time, Menon said.

Contestants have to be of Keralite origin, aged between 16-24, with a minimum height of 5'2". The final 25 girls would be groomed for six days by an expert panel of achievers and celebrities before contestants take the final stage.

About 226 girls have contested in the final round of the decade old event and gone on to excel to greater heights, not only in the glamour industry but their chosen field of academic pursuits.

Paegent producers are joining hands with with 'Save the Girl Child' Mission- a project of the Federation of Obsterics and Gynaecologocal societies of India. The winner would devote heself to working for the programme, he said.

Apart from the main title, contestants would vie for various titles like Miss Beautiful Hair, Miss Beautiful Skin and Miss Beautiful Eyes.

The Miss Kerala event is being organised by Impresario Event Management Company (India) Ltd.
