Missing NDTV employee found dead in HP

india Updated: Mar 09, 2013 00:48 IST

The local police on Friday found the body of Ravi Nibhanpudi (26), an assistant producer working with NDTV channel in New Delhi, who had gone missing in November last year.

The partially-decomposed body was found in a steep gorge near a café on the Dharamkot-Triund trekking route, about 15 km from Dharamsala town.

Trekkers spotted the body and informed the police, following which a police team reached the spot.

Superintendent of police (SP), Kangra, Balbir Thakur told Hindustan Times that the police identified the body through an identity card found in the clothes of the deceased.

Thakur said prima facie it seemed to be an accidental death, adding that Nibhanpudi’s camera and wallet had also been found.

“However, we are still investigating the case. The cause of the death will be known after an autopsy,” said Thakur.

Nibhanpudi had arrived here on a holiday to McLeodganj on November 24, 2012. He told a friend that he was going to Triund, a popular trekking spot near McLeodganj. Later that day, his phone was switched off and he went missing. He was reportedly travelling alone. Two days later, the family informed the police.

Nibhanpudi’s family members had searched for him for more than a month and circulated his posters all around the town and nearby places. Footage from a CCTV camera at the McLeodganj Chowk had shown him looking at some papers and taking the road to the Bhagsu temple.
