POLICE ARE groping in the dark to locate the missing pottery trader. Confusion prevailed manifold when the wife of the trader on Saturday informed the police that she had received a missed call from the mobile phone of the trader on Friday night.

However, the police have recovered the bike of the trader found parked at the Kanpur Central railway station.

Meanwhile, relatives of the missing trader are living in tension and praying for safe return of the trader.

Saroj Kumar Gupta, a resident of H block in Kidwai Nagar, was missing after closing his shop at Hoolaganj three days back. After much dilly-dallying, the Harbanshmohal police on Friday registered a complaint in this regard.

On Saturday, Nishi Gupta, wife of the trader, informed the police that a phone call from the cell phone of Saroj got registered at her land line phone at 10.00 pm. “But by the time we could attend the phone it was disconnected.

After that we made several phone calls on Saroj’s mobile but the phone was responding as switched off,” she said.

According to the police, the missing traders was last seen near the Lucknow Gate.

The police said they were trying their best to locate the missing trader and, as no ransom call was received, it indicated that the trader might be in some other district and by making blank phone calls trying to convince his kin that he was well.
