Members elected to the 12th Kerala assembly took oath on Wednesday, ahead of the election to the post of the Speaker, slated for Thursday.
Pro Tem Speaker VJ Thankappan administered oath to the members, including Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan, his cabinet colleagues and former chief minister Oommen Chandy.
The LDF, which won 98 seats in the 140-member house, has proposed CPI (M) leader and former minister K Radhakrishnan to be the Speaker of the house.
If the UDF opts to contest, election to the post would be held on Thursday.
