ON THE occasion of Autumnal Equinox, St Paul Senior Secondary Co-Ed School in association with the Varahmihir Astronomical Centre, Ujjain, organised an astronomical seminar at the recently developed Language Laboratory on the school premises.

Around 50 students participated in the seminar. They were educated in various scientific topics such as making low cost telescope, GPS, solar and lunar eclipse, solstice, equinoxes and disaster management.

They were taught by using simple methods like astronomical games, exhibition, quiz etc. The students were also exposed to the use of Global Positioning System (GPS). The scientists imparted lessons on how to construct and use a telescope.

Through this seminar, students got an opportunity to interact with renowned scientists and have their doubts in Physics and Geology clarified.

A participant Arindam Saha said, “It was a great opportunity to meet famous scientists. The information gathered here would be useful for the students.” Neelam Shivhare said, “Such seminars inspire us to know more about specific fields”.
