The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) trained its guns on Prime Minister Narendra Modi again on Wednesday and claimed that he had not completed his graduation from Delhi University.
A controversy over Modi’s educational degrees has been brewing over the past week, with the Chief Information Commissioner ordering universities of Delhi and Gujarat to respond to RTI applications regarding the PM’s degrees.
AAP leaders, Ashutosh, Raghav Chaddha and Ashish Khetan met Delhi University officials on Wednesday but said the details about Modi’s degree were not disclosed.
AAP supremo and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal claimed that this was because there was no degree to show.
“DU refuses to show records of PM’s degree. Why? My info- he did not do BA from DU. No records in DU. Degree published by some papers forged,” (sic) he tweeted.
However, vice-chancellor Yogesh Tyagi told HT: “There is a RTI department dealing with the issue and it will give a reply in accordance to rules.”
Officials from the department said that they have received the CIC order on Wednesday.
