Lambasting the BJP over the issue of refugees from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), senior Congress leader and public health engineering minister, Sham Lal Sharma on Thursday said the new government at the centre was trying to "sabotage their emotions".

These refugees are groups of people who came to the Indian side of Kashmir from PoK over the last many decades

Sham Lal Sharma accused the BJP government in New Delhi of being "insensitive" for turning down a rehabilitation package for the PoK refugees approved by the state cabinet.

He said the package was unnecessarily connected with a non-state issue, referring to another group of refugees living in Jammu province - those from West-Pakistan.

Sharma said the BJP has always advocated for rehabilitation of West Pakistan refugees and even cornered successive governments over the issue.

"But they have ignored the plight of these people, they have done nothing but stabbed the PoK refugees in the back," Sharma added.
