Modi, Hooda acting like property dealers: Kejriwal

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday came down heavily on Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and BJP's prime minister nominee Narendra Modi, saying "both were acting like property dealers".

Campaigning from his open jeep in Kaithal district of Haryana, Kejriwal accused Hooda and Modi, also the Gujarat chief minister, of reaping huge gains by acquiring land from farmers and giving it to big corporate houses.

In his campaign for Balvinder Kaur, AAP candidate from neighbouring Kurukshetra, Kejriwal also alleged that Hooda and Modi were exploiting the common man and depriving farmers of the due.

Government jobs, Kejriwal said, were on the sale in Haryana and Gujarat. "Tell me, can you get a job in Haryana without paying?" he asked a gathering.

Kejriwal, who has launched a stinging attack on Modi and his claims of development in Gujarat, said the media was creating a false impression of a "Modi wave" in the country.

"If there is a wave, why did he decide to contest from two seats and why was he desperately looking for a safe seat?" Kejriwal, who will take on Modi from Varanasi in the Lok Sabha polls, said. Modi is also contesting from Vadodara in Gujarat.

The ex-Delhi chief minister said he too could have contested from a "safe seat" in the Capital, but he did not do so as he was confident that people were ready to elect clean and efficient candidates.

The AAP leader criticised the Congress candidate from Kurukshetra, Naveen Jindal, saying his name had figured in the coal scam.

Referring to BJP candidate Raj Kumar Saini, the AAP leader alleged the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) had openly stated they had once bought him for Rs 25 lakh. "What else is required to prove that corruption is prevalent in this state?"

Kejriwal said it was written in Shri Bhagwat Geeta that whenever the earth was burdened with sins of human beings, God himself took steps to rid the planet of evil. He said his party's victory in the Delhi elections proved that the God had started doing his job.
