The people enveloped in blanket will be on radar of the police in Meerut when BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi lands there to address Vijay Sankhnad rally on Sunday.

The cops deployed around the rally ground have been told to frisk people properly particularly those who have covered themselves with blanket before allowing them to enter rally ground.

ADG (Law and Order) Mukul Goel on Friday said natives of West UP particularly those settled in Meerut and Muzaffarnagar area usually cover themselves with blanket while moving in public place during winter.

It’s tough task to identify a person as only a portion of the face is exposed and one does not know what article he is carrying under the blanket. The police have been told to frisk all the people properly particularly those enveloped in blankets, he said.

The weatherman prediction that cold wave would continue has also added to the woes of the police. The people in West UP move in hordes on tractor trolleys. The cops will check all the vehicles including tractor trollies moving toward ground and make arrangement of the parking too.

The state police have made an elaborate security arrangement for Modi’s rally. The ground where the rally is organized is located around 55 km from Muzaffarnagar that witnessed communal clash in September last year.

Along with the BJP leaders the BSP, SP and Congress leaders were accused in the communal violence. Sixty people died and around 50,000 riot victims took shelter in the relief camps. In view of the continuing tension the victims are not eager to return to their native village.

“The area is sensitive and we are rushing force from neighbouring districts to maintain law and order during the rally”, Goel said.

To assist the local police the DGP has deputed 2 superintendents of police (SP), 10 ASPs, 20 DySPs, 12inspectors, 150 sub inspectors, 450 constables, 22 sub inspectors (traffic), 14 inspectors (traffic), 60 constables (traffic), 10 companies PAC, 2 team of Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) commandoes, anti sabotage team, bomb disposal squad and other security personnels.
