Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's three day visit to Russia would mark the beginning of cooperation in the energy sector and lead to mutually beneficial tie up between Gujarat and Russia, the state government officials said on Thursday.
Modi recently led a high level delegation comprising representatives from the industry to Russia where they participated in the World Energy Week and held meetings with the representatives and officials of Russian and other international companies.
"CM held one to one meeting with CEOs and senior executives of leading oil and gas companies in which their officials showed interest in forging partnership with Gujarat-based companies," D Rajgopalan, Chief Secretary, who briefed the media about the visit said.
According to him, a power point presentation "Advantage Gujarat" was made in Russian language and subsequently, many Russian businessmen and industry representatives sought details for investment opportunities in Gujarat.
"A leading energy company Gazprom has shown willingness to partner with Gujarat government owned GSPC in joint exploration and production of oil and gas in India and abroad," the Chief Secretary said.
