Hitting out at the UPA government, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said it “failed” to counter terrorism, and appealed to the electorate to reject Congress and its allies and elect the NDA headed by BJP for a “strong and safe India”.

Congress, which ruled the country for about 60 years, has “failed on all fronts”, Modi, who began a day-long whirlwind tour of Karnataka, said addressing a rally in Bijapur.

Congress and its alliance partners were engaged in vote bank politics, Modi alleged and cautioned “it is dangerous for the country”.

Campaigning for BJP candidate Ramesh Jigajinagi in Bijapur, which has become a reserved constituency after delimitation, he said that during the UPA regime, unemployment was on the rise.
