Mole at IPL blogs away its dirty secrets
Does Prince Charles of Patiala like his women more than the Sheikh of Tweak or will Kishen Kanhaiiya get them all? If you thought the Indian Premiere League was all about scoring and zero playing, then think again. Malvika Nanda reports.india Updated: Apr 23, 2009 02:09 IST
Does Prince Charles of Patiala like his women more than the Sheikh of Tweak or will Kishen Kanhaiiya get them all? If you thought the Indian Premiere League (IPL) was all about scoring and zero playing, then think again.
There seems to be a double agent in the house of IPL. A blogger, who calls himself IPL anonymous, is digging up dirt on players, owners and coaches. Fakeiplplayer.blogspot.com is where the off-pitch action is. The blogger, who claims to be a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), could be a player or a crew member. But he’s bringing the aankhon dekha haal from inside the dressing rooms and the bedrooms.
With over 4,700 views about a week ago, since the blog began, the excitement is clear. The characters that the blogger has created — Vinnie Dildo “a megalomaniac as our owner”, Meera Bhai, Kaan Moolo, Hawai Chappal and Lord Almighty— are colourful yet identifiable.
While team strategies are discussed, other betting games are being indulged in. Sample this: “One of the bets is on which commentator will end up bedding the Sandy Baddy babe. They have pooled in $200 each…the one who ends up bedding her gets the money…”
The management is on the lookout for the ‘real blogger’. “Our laptops have been taken away after the owner, coach and captain had a meeting over the blog,” says a team insider. That hasn’t stopped the blogger from relaying posts by SMS to his brother.
“The kind of information he has, we are sure he is not a part of the team. Most information he has is wrong, and what he has got right, is very obvious,” KKR team director Joy Bhattacharya told Hindustan Times.
