THIS ONE is a tribute by a doting mom to her celebrity son and his idols.

Pushpa Dravid has crafted, on a towering fibre glass mural, terracota images of her son Rahul Dravid and all his cricketing icons including Anil Kumble, Javagal Srinath, G R Vishwanath, B S Chandrashekar, E A S Prasanna, Syed Kirmani and Brijesh Patel outside the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore.

Inveterate fans would relive in these images the artistry and guile of each of these legends. There is Rahul's rasping square drive, Kirmani's leaping take behind the stumps, Vishwanath's wristy square cut, Chandrashekar's googly, Srinath's express action, and Kumble's legspin.

The mega work of art will be unwrapped on May 7 at a felicitation for the Indian skipper and his senior Anil Kumble. Measuring 600 sq feet, the mural would be installed outside the main entrance of the cricket pavilion.

Dravid's labour of love took more than six months to craft. She says her "permanent tribute will last for centuries and help fans remember the talent of these cricketers. My intention was to depict in action the trademark of each of these cricketers."Some statistics too have been etched on a metal plaque.

"Each of them has interesting figures against their names," says statistician H R Gopalakrishna.
