POLICE HEAD constable Irfan Ahmed, who had verified credentials of former Bollywood starlet and companion of underworld don Abu Salem,  Monica Bedi following her application for passport at Bhopal, on Tuesday deposed in the court of chief judicial magistrate (CJM) Ravindra Kumar Singh.

In the course of his deposition Ahmed stated that he had seen Monica Bedi at accused-turned-approver in the fake passport case Siraj’s house. He had introduced her as Fauziya Usman, his wife. Siraj had also given a copy of ration card to him in which her name was registered as Faujiya Usman.

When defence counsel P C Vedi asked the witness whether a departmental inquiry (DE) was conducted against him for fake verification report, he said, there was a DE but he did not know why it was conducted or on what charges.  Ahmed is the only witness among more than 10 witnesses examined in the court so far to have identified Monica Bedi alias Fauziya Usman as someone whom he had seen and met at Bhopal before her alleged fake passport was made.
