It had made tall claims of putting an end to all monsoon woes this season. But with the very first showers, the Noida authority’s assurances of providing clean drains and smooth roads seems to have fallen flat on its face.

Residents continue to face problems like waterlogging, choked sewers and potholed roads in many areas.

“Right after the very first shower, the sewer line in our sector choked. We lodged our complaint at the authority’s call centre, but no one has turned up to address the problem,” said Kamal Arora, a resident of Sector 40 said.

The authority claims it installed 15 pumps and allotted 15 engineers to pump out rain water. However, residents still seem to be a dissatisfied lot. “None of the authority’s ‘quick response teams’ responded last Friday. Water came inside our houses and no official came to drain out the water,” said Munna K Sharma of Sector 71 RWA.

Meanwhile, Noida authority chairman Rakesh Bahadur called a meeting and directed the officials to randomly visit sectors thrice in a week to address water logging complaints. “The teams will check if the roads and footpaths are in good shape. If things are not found to be in the desired state, concerned officials will be pulled up,” said Rajesh Prakash, administrative officer, Noida authority.
