More degree colleges get LU approval

THE EXECUTIVE council of Lucknow University (LU) in its meeting on Thursday gave affiliation to some of the new degree colleges while new courses were approved for some existing degree colleges. Veer Bahadur Women College will hold BA classes and subjects will be Hindi, Sociology, Home Science, History, Education and Political Science.

Mahavir Prasad Mahila Vidyalaya, Rajajipuram to hold BA and B Ed classes, Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay Rajkiya Mahila College, Rajajipuram to hold classes for B Sc, SG Degree College, Kanpur Road will hold BA classes and subjects are Hindi, English, Sociology, Education, Economics, Political Science and Sanskrit while Asha Smriti College, Dewa Road for B Ed.

EC has approved the proposal of having uniform pattern of all its governing body that governs different institutes. At the same time, any superannuated teachers will not be allowed to hold the posts like director or member of the governing council. Regional Centre for Urban and Environmental Studies will now conduct PhDs as well.

Former EC member HL Nigam would now replace DD Sharma from that committee that is screening the appointments of the part time teachers in the light of High Court order. If Nigam is not in a position to take the responsibility then SN Mishra, former head of Ancient Indian History department would be given this task. Rakesh Chandra, reader of Philosophy department, LU and Brijendra Singh of Computer Science are professors now.
