Farmers held a number of panchayats on Sunday and decided that all villages of Gautam Budh Nagar district will move court to protest land acquisition.

Farmers from eight villages held a panchayat at Dhada village. Representatives from Sirsa, Khanpur, Ladpura, Dabra, Aichher, Bronda, Kyampur and Kasna met and upped the ante against the authority.

Land of these villages was acquired between 2005 and 2007. Several housing projects have come up in the area. A lot of development has taken place since then.

"We have decided that all villages of the district will file petitions in the high court seeking quashing of forcibly acquired land. We have formed a committee to deal with legal formalities," said Virendra Dhada, a farmer leader.

At Roza Yakubpur, on which a HC hearing is likely on July 26, farmers held a 'havan' at an ancient temple. "It was held to pray for court victory," said Manvir Bhatti, a farmer leader.
