While adding another cyber crime police station is a welcome move, other measures such as setting up special cyber courts need to be taken up to ensure that criminals are brought to book at the earliest, claim experts and policemen.
Cyber expert Vijay Mukhi said, “Having more policemen will certainly help. We need to do more to make the system better. We need judges and laywers who are trained in cyber laws to understand the nuances of the cases. Having a separate court could help in quick disposal of cases.”
He said that the cyber police should get the required technology and send their officials to cyber crime conferences abroad so that they get wider exposure.
Cyber expert Vicky Shah said that segregation of different types of cyber crimes could help improve the quality of work.
An officer from the cyber police station said the authorities need to work towards coordination with mobile and internet service providers, nodal officers of social networking sites and banks for investigation purposes.
“On most occasions, the agencies do not send the information on time because of which the probe suffers,” the officer said.
