MP: Boat capsizes in Chambal; five missing, others rescued

At least five people have gone missing after a boat carrying around 80 devotees overturned in Chambal river in Bah area of Agra, Uttar Pradesh, on Wednesday.

According to sources, the devotees belonging to Nagara area of Porsa block, Morena, had gone to see Bateshwar Mela in Agra, UP. Sources also said that when the incident occurred, around 80 devotees were boarded on the boat whereas its capacity was of 60 passengers.

Porsa sub divisional officer of police (SDOP) Kishore Singh Bhadoria said that several passengers were rescued but five people are still missing.

He said the boat was being operated illegally to take the passengers across the river.
