Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu entered the semifinals of the boys and girls event in the 27th National Basketball Championships here today, defeating Uttarakhand and Haryana respectively.
Madhya Pradesh boys walloped a hapless Uttarakhand 59-21, while Tamil Nadu girls had an easy 47-21 victory over Haryana.
Earlier, last year's runner up in the boys section Chattisgarh prevailed over Maharashtra 81-79 in a cliffhanger through extra-time after both teams were locked 66-66 at end of the full time.
It was 78-78 till 30 seconds before extra-time when B Dinesh came up with a three pointer to snatch the win for Chattisgarh. Maharashtra missed free throws in the dying minutes.
Meanwhile in the girls quartefinal, Uttar Pradesh knocked out last year's runner up Chattisgarh 58-40.
