Expressing concern over the increasing corruption in MP, Union minister of state for commerce and industry Jyotiraditya Scindia on Saturday demanded a CBI probe into the assets accumulated by two businessmen recently raided by the I-T department.
Last week, I-T sleuths had raided 60 premises across India belonging to Dilip Suryavanshi and Sudhir Sharma.
Suryavanshi, who owns Dilip Buildcon, is said to be close to MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Sharma is the state coordinator of BJP's education cell and owner of mining firm SR Ferro Alloys.
"If CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan believes in transparency and wants to take up a crusade against corruption and black money holders, he should get it probed by the CBI…" he said in his address to mediapersons at the Indore Press Club. "The recent I-T raids…have exposed the Shivraj Singh government's hollow claim about containing corruption and black money," Scindia said.
Maintaining that there was immense scope for development in the state, Scindia said the BJP government in the state was marred by corruption and misrule. He said the CBI and Enforcement Directorate should probe the assets of the two businessmen, who had acquired black money over the last six years through illegal mining. The accused reportedly have thousands of dumpers, and hold scores of lockers containing gold, silver and diamond jewellery as well as foreign currency. The leader said the Congress has become a "unified force" in Madhya Pradesh.
