Police on Wednesday arrested a contractual teacher who allegedly murdered a government school principal at Nemawar on late Tuesday night.
Dewas SP Abhay Singh said the accused was Rupesh Nayak, resident of Niwadi, Tikamgarh, and was serving as a contractual teacher at a government school in Nemawar village, Dewas district. He murdered the school principal Phoolchand (59) at his home.
According to police, the accused barged into the victim's house and slit his throat with a sharp-edged weapon. Police said the neighbours took the principal to a community health centre, where doctors declared him brought dead.
The police began a search operation in Nemawar and its neigbouring areas and arrested the accused within 24 hours. During investigations, it came to light that the principal had stopped the salary of the accused, which led to a brawl and the accused had gone to the principal's house to discuss the issue.
