MP girls shine, boys lose in kho-kho

HOSTS MADHYA Pradesh on Monday had mixed luck in the west zone kho-kho championship organised by the Madhya Bharat Kho Kho Association at Chiman Bagh grounds.

HOSTS MADHYA Pradesh on Monday had mixed luck in the west zone kho-kho championship organised by the Madhya Bharat Kho Kho Association at Chiman Bagh grounds.

In the girls’ event, hosts Madhya Bharat beat Kolhapur by an innings and 15 points to advance to the second round. In the men’s match it was total reverse as Kolhapur boys took revenge beating the hosts. In the evenly poised match Kolhapur had to sweat before winning the match by just two points to advance to the second round.

Golden Club win football tourney
GOLDEN CLUB, Mhow won the state-level Indira Gandhi memorial football tournament. In the final, Golden Club defeated Anand Club by 1-0 in the evenly poised match. National Youth Congress secretary Kamleshwar Patel distributed the prizes to the winners.

Bhavans students in State yoga team
THE STATE yoga team left for Chennai to take part in the national yoga competition. 11 students of Bhavans Prominent have been selected in the State team in various age groups. School principal Shishir Singh and the management have wished the team good luck.

BLESSINGS Academy tiny boxers excelled in the recently concluded interschool boxing competition organised by Indore School Games Federation. Priyanka Bora won the first position.

Sanjay chess champ
SANJAY KUSHWAH won the One-Day Open Blitz chess championship organised by the Friends Chess Club on Sunday. In a thrilling final, Sanjay Kushwah defeated Hitesh Singh in the five minute extra time after both the players had scored 5 points each.

Arpit Bhargav won the junior title while Sudraksh won the second position. M M Saxena of BSNL distributed the prizes to the winners.

Subramani excels
SUBRAMANI WON double crowns in the MPSEB inter-region badminton tournament being played at the Nehru Stadium. Subramani of Jabalpur won the singles and doubles title to help his region win the overall championship.
In the final, Subramani beat Veersingh Pur by 21-13, 21-17 and in the doubles he and N V Nathan won the title defeating Ramesh Boyar/Rajiv Srivatsav by 21-13, 21-8.

Ramesh Boyar won the ‘best player of the tournament’ award. DIG (Indore Region) Madhukumar Babu distributed the prizes to winners.

Semifinalists spotted
CHIRAYU JAIN, Jayesh, Akshay, Soumtira Shivnekar and Rahul have sailed into the last four of the interschool badminton tournament organised by Sartaj Academy at Narayan Bagh Balvikas Kendra in various categories.
