Two children were brutally killed by goat thieves at Sirlay village under Bhikangaon police station limit of Khargone district on Thursday morning.

Police have registered a case against unidentified people and investigation is on. Nobody has been arrested so far.

The two children were identified as Vijay (10) and Ramprasad (11), residents of Sirlay village. The children went to graze goats on the outskirts of the village when some unidentified thieves tried to steal them. The children saw them and resisted with their sticks but the thieves bludgeoned them to death. The thieves then covered the bodies of the kids with stones near a canal and fled with the goats.

A neighbour of the children saw one of the goat thieves Kahna who was fleeing away with the goats. He informed the parents of the children who were searching for them. After about half-an-hour, residents of the village found the bodies lying under stones.

Police swung into action on receiving the information. Hunt for the accused is on. "We have registered a case under section 302 and investigation is going on," said SDOP Karan Singh Rawat.
