Madhya Pradesh Health Minister Ajay Vishnoi on Monday resigned at the BJP high command’s behest following simultaneous Income-Tax raids on May 30 in Jabalpur, Bhopal and Indore on the premises of his brother Abhay and many officers and traders allegedly involved in multi-crore scams in the health department.
Home secretary Dr Rajesh Rajora, who was earlier posted in the health department, also resigned in the wake of the raids at his residences in Bhopal and Neemuch.
Vishnoi left his resignation letter on the chief minister’s office table at around 11.30 am. The CM and other senior party leaders are in Delhi attending the BJP national executive meet.
Vishnoi told HT, “Ever since the I-T raids, the Congress has been building a mountain of lies about me. Truth will finally come out and I will come out clear,” he said, adding that the chief minister does not consider him guilty.
Last September, I-T department sleuths raided the premises of the then health director Dr Yogi Raj Sharma. The raids yielded unaccounted wealth to the tune of Rs 100 crore.
