MP: Navy officer booked for stealing jeep given bail

A sub-lieutenant of Navy — a trainee officer — Manmeet Singh who was arrested in Sagar on the charges of stealing a jeep of a Navy commandant from a base hospital in Delhi, was released on bail on Monday.

Meanwhile, Navy commandant Aman Sabbarwal who owned the jeep and lodged the complaint has also withdrawn his complaint, according to Sagar police.

Singh had been booked under sections 379 of IPC and 41(1-D) of CrPC. Singh told police that he had committed a mistake but his intention was not to steal the jeep.

Cantt police station in-charge Ashok Shukla said, "We talked to the Commandant Aman Sabbarwal and he said he didn’t want any action against Singh. Meanwhile, Manmeet has also been released on bail."
