One of the two persons kidnapped from Shivpuri on Saturday was released on Monday, the police said. The man, identified as Tulsi Adivasi, was taken to Bamrahi forests where he was released.

However, another person, Jaipal Khalgo, who was working with a telecom company and deployed on a railway project, was still in the kidnappers' custody, the police added.

After the duo went missing from the site where the work was going on, other workers informed the police.

A massive combing operation was launched in the forest area to nab the criminals.

Talking to HT, superintendent of police (SP) ML Chari said police teams are rifling through jungles to nab the abductors.

After being released, Tulsi Adivasi said a gang of five armed men kidnapped him and Jaipal while they were working on a telecom line on the tracks between Shivpuri and Guna on Saturday evening.

Tulsi, who was still in police custody, was quizzed by the cops for more clues about the kidnappers.

Sources said the kidnappers demanded ransom of Rs 10 lakh for Jaipal's release.
