Railway authorities on Thursday late night, nabbed MP Prabhunath Singh's wife, travelling illegally on the Patna-Rajdhani Express train. The authorities imposed a penalty of Rs 10,383 on the MP's wife, who was accompanied by her two sons in AC 1.

The authorities acting on a specific tip-off, carried out checking in the coach. When the checking staff asked the woman to produce the mandatory supporting document, which serves as a proof of identity, she failed to produce the same. "Though she was carrying her identity card, she did not have documents to prove her identity as the MP's wife," said Chief Public Relation Officer (CPRO), North Central Railway BP Pandey. Besides, the staff found that her two sons were having tickets of AC 2, added Pandey.

Earlier, the officers even tried to conduct the checking of the coach at Kanpur station but the woman had resisted the move, he said.
