A 20-year-old pregnant woman died at the Bina government hospital on Wednesday after a lady doctor allegedly refused to attend to her, saying she was still to receive her joining orders after being transferred from her last posting.

Rajni Ahirwar, a local resident of Bina, was admitted to the hospital which then referred her to the Sagar district hospital due to non-availability of a gynaecologist. But the woman died before she could be taken to Sagar. Her family members alleged medical negligence on the part of lady doctor Rama Parihar, who had recently been transferred from Khurai. Parihar allegedly refused to treat the woman because she had not formally joined duties.

However, AG Vinchulkar, the chief medical and health officer of the district, said her joining orders had been issued and that the matter would be investigated.
