Divyesh Motwadiya was the top scorer with 60 runs, while Mandeep Makwana contributed 46. Priyank Panchal with 24 runs was the third top scorer for the Gujarat team. Rest of the batsmen lost their wickets cheaply.

Gujarat bounced back in the game as their off spinner Mohit Parmar, who was part of the U-19 World Cup squad, showed his class and dismissed top two batsmen without conceding a run in just three overs to put the hosts on the back foot.

At the end of the day’s play, MP were struggling at 24/3. Of late, the MPCA, in its hunt for talent, has been sending senior and junior teams to play out of the State. Recently, the seniors participated in the Buchi Babu cricket tournament held in Chennai and the same team with a couple of changes took part in Chandigarh one-dayers.

This year, the Gujarat team has been invited to MP and the U-19 team is playing a couple of matches in Indore. MPCA secretary Sanjay Jagdale said that by organising such matches the players would get good exposure and good match practice.
