The Chhattisgarh police are clueless about the whereabouts of Vikramaditya Singh Judeo, younger brother of a BJP MP, who is absconding but was "active" on the messaging app WhatsApp till Wednesday.

Judeo, a member of ex-royal family of Jashpur Vikramaditya Judeo is on the run after allegedly assaulting a private school director Parmeshwar Gupta and running his expensive Pajero SUV over him in Jashpur on Monday.

HT has learnt that the accused accessed some WhatsApp groups for two days after the incident. But the police couldn’t make any breakthrough in spotting the "mistake" Judeo committed on using his mobile phone that could be a vital clue to trace his exact location.

“Vikramadityaji himself is an admin of the WhatsApp group ‘Welcome’ and we saw him chatting on Wednesday”, an active member associated with Jashpur-based Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram and also connected with ‘Welcome’ group told HT requesting anonymity.

Ashish Jha, who manages another WhatsApp group in Raipur, too confirmed to HT that Vikramaditya was seen accessing his group ‘Media Passion’.

“Till yesterday (Wednesday) he remained online. It appears he has quit my group today,” Jha said.

Failure to nab Vikramaditya led the Jashpur superintendent of police Girja Shankar Jaiswal announce a cash award of Rs 5,000 on any vital information leading to his arrest.

Besides Chhattisgarh, the police of the neighbouring states of Odhisa and Jharkhand are also looking for him. “Vikramaditya still remains untraced. Our search continues. We are getting some inputs and pursuing it. We suspect he is outside Chhattisgarh”, the Jashpur SP told HT.

Gupta remained critical at a hospital in Ranchi as he had suffered multiple injuries following Vikramaditya’s assault over a dispute on the piece of land.

According to the sources, Vikramaditya was declared an absconder by Chhattisgarh police earlier also in a case of abduction and another of forcefully keeping two minor children as slaves during 2009-10. It is alleged that the police haven’t followed up the cases against him due to the considerable political clout that he wields in the area.

His elder brother, Ranvijay Singh Judeo, is a BJP Rajya Sabha member from Chhattisgarh, nephew Yudhveer Singh Judeo is an MLA and late leader Dilip Singh Judeo, an environment minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led NDA government, was a close relative.
