MADHYA PRADESH’S tally of medals in the ongoing National Games at Guwahati reached 32 on Monday. MP had won 26 medals in the last National Games organised at Hyderabad.
On the fourth day today, MP won 12 medals including two gold and three silvers. Vipin Mathew took 47.3 seconds to win 400-m gold.
Rohit Patel of Indore won the second gold for the state. Appearing in the 120 kg category of the freestyle wresting event, he defeated Jaideep of Punjab convincingly 6-0. Surendra Singh won silver for the State in 96 kg category of the freestyle event.
He lost to Amarjeet Singh of Punjab 5-9 in final. Sachin and Devendra won bronze for the State in the 74 kg and 60 kg category of the freestyle wrestling event.
Wushu continues to improve the medal tally. Asha Lata Devi and Maitri won silver for the State. Wushu coach Sarika Gupta felt satisfied over the performance of players. In all, 17 medals were won by Wushu players.
In the shooting event, the team comprising Poonam Kumar, Naresh Kumar and Mahendra Singh won bronze for the State. In the women’s 10 m air rifle team of Rajkumari Dondiya, Shivangi and Poornima won bronze.
